Meeting the Team: Company Certification

Thu, 30 March, 2023

TWI Certification Ltd (TWI CL) is made up of two groups – Personnel and Company Certification. Our Personnel Certification provides personnel competence assurance certification through the CSWIP and BGAS-CSWIP schemes, and also contains our Welder Certification section, which provides welding specific certification such as welding approvals or approval of welding procedures. However, today our focus is on Company Certification, who provide certification for organisations so they can demonstrate the competence and compliance of their people, products and processes, often in accordance with international, European and British standards.

Emma Freckingham, Scheme Manager and Head of Company Certification: Emma’s competence and previous experience in project management was quickly recognised and she joined the Company Certification section as a Project Leader supporting the delivery of its schemes. Growing in her knowledge and experience, Emma was the obvious choice for the role of Scheme Manager (and Head of Company Certification), after the departure of the previous Scheme Manager.

John Brampton, Principle Compliance Verification Engineer: With significant experience in welding before he joined TWI CL in 2015, John quickly developed his career within TWI CL and has become the go-to for all things related to our Certification Scheme for Welder Training Organisations (CSWTO). Read more about John in his dedicated Case Study.

Lee Gordon, Principle Compliance Verification Engineer: An expert in all things EN 15085 – he sits on the committee for the standard - Lee has a well-earned reputation in regards to our Certification Scheme for Welding of Railway Vehicles and Components (CWRVC). Joining TWI CL in 2020, Lee’s previous experience has been invaluable in developing TWI CLs client base and knowledge of the rail sector.

Rosanne Kilbourn, Team Manager: Rosanne, an experienced project and team manager, joined TWI CL in June 2019 as a Senior Company Certification officer. She quickly won the hearts and minds of her colleagues and customers through her unwavering dedication and exceptional customer service throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and was raised to the permanent position of Team Manager in June 2021. When not managing the team, Rosanne is also responsible for administering TWI CL’s Certification of Manufacture of Special Materials (CMSM) scheme.

Jamie Fane, Senior Company Certification Officer: Joining TWI CL when he was only 19 as an apprentice certification officer, Jamie has since rocketed through the ranks as a result of his unquestionable work ethic, approachability, and knowledge of TWI CL schemes, processes and procedures. This has led him to managing TWI CLs European Partnerships, as part of its Conformity Assessment of the Execution of Steel and Aluminium Structures (CAESAS) scheme. Read more about Jamie in his dedicated Case Study.

Sarah McCarthy, Senior Company Certification Officer: A new addition to TWI CL, having joined in June 2022, Sarah brings 20 years of industry experience to Company Certification. Responsible for all initial applications, and new enquires, Sarah’s exemplary customer service, steadfast belief in the merits of certification and the benefits they provide to customers, make her a pivotal initial contact for our clients. Read more about Sarah in her dedicated Case Study.

Katie Ellis, Company Certification Officer: Having joined TWI CL in October 2022, Katie is still at the start of her journey with TWI CL. However, she has shown exemplary team work and desire to do and learn more already. Initially tasked with looking after our established customers, many of which are holders of our Welding Fabricator Certification Scheme (WFCS), helping them through their reassessments (which occurs at the end of the certification period), Katie is quick to offer help and support to her colleagues when clients require surveillances (for other certifications) or at the initial point of their certification process as they add new ones.

Gyula Bognar, Company Certification Officer: Joining us in June 2022, Gyula, although new to the world of certification, has significant experience in customer service and brings that knowledge and competence into every interaction with our clients, and makes sure they are his first priority in each action he takes. With a supporting role within the team, Gyula is instrumental in ensuring that the team has everything they need to meet client expectations and maintain the level of service expected of TWI CL.
