TWI CL Partner with INSPEKTA for EN 1090-1 FPC Certification

Thu, 11 November, 2021

With the changes brought about the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, TWI Certification Ltd (TWI CL) has had to adapt its operations in order to continue delivering the level of service and products our clients have come to expect of us. As such, TWI CL has signed a new mutual recognition agreement with INSPEKTA a Lithuania based Certification Body, who, like TWI CL, are accredited to ISO/IEC 17065 and hold Notified Body (NOBO) status within Lithuania, as TWI CL does as an Approved Body within the UK. This will mean that TWI CL and INSPEKTA are uniquely placed to offer UK and EU Factory Production Control (FPC) certification to UK, Lithuanian and European companies..

As an Approved Body for the UK, TWI CL clients who have successfully undertaken assessment through our Conformity Assessment of the Execution of Steel and Aluminium Structures (CAESAS) Scheme, which is in accordance with EN 1090, can affix a UKCA or CE (UKNI) mark on their products and place them on the UK market, but cannot place the EU CE mark on their products nor place them on the EU market.

As a NOBO for Lithuania and the EU, successful INSPEKTA clients who pass the relevant assessment, are eligible to place the EU CE mark on their product and place it on the EU market, but cannot place the UKCA mark on the UK market after 31 December 2022, at which point it will not be accepted and must bear the UKCA or CE (UKNI) mark.

This partnership between TWI CL and INSPEKTA will enable current and future clients of both Certification Bodies to continue operating within the UK or EU markets, with no changes to their assessment process; all assessments will continue to be conducted by your Certification Body but under the evaluation of both Certification Bodies, enabling customers to UKCA, CE (UK)NI and also CE mark their products.

Emma Freckingham, Head, and Scheme Manager, of Company Certification had this to say about this latest partnership “Meeting the requirements of our customers, and continuing to provide the products and services that they need, to the same quality that they expect, is of paramount importance to TWI CL. Being able to do this, while working with a such a competent company as INSPECTA, is a bonus.”
